CRISIS MANAGEMENT - A CASE STUDY
DRC assures sensitivity, discretion and complete confidentiality. We will never divulge the names of organisations used as case studies on this site. However, be assured that they are all major national UK and EU organisations and DRC clients.
This example of crisis management focuses on extortion threats on the manager of three branches of an organisation. Caught between the violence and threats from organised criminal groups and the business development targets of the organisation, the individuals slowly allowed themselves to be compromised. effectively laundering money from the proceeds of drugs through the branches.
The manager could not keep the issues secret, and the organisation formed a crisis management team to respond.
DRC was invited into the virtual crisis team by teleconferencing and added value to the supporting decisions by giving clarity to the activities of policing in a covert response. This led to a greater sense of trust and partnership with law enforcement, leading to business decisions that deprived the criminals of the controls they had set in place.
Business integrity was regained and, after some critical decisions to prevent re-occurrences, the organisation returned to “business as usual” and normality was regained.
